Colorful leaves, pumpkin spice flavoring, cold weather and warm sweaters. The crisp fall air has finally hit Leavenworth, and the locals are loving it. Students at CHS are feeling the change and embracing the fall spirit.

The town of Leavenworth has many events that happen in Autum, the biggest one being Octoberfest. This event brings many tourists to see the colors and enjoy tents with live music and performances and partake in family-friendly activities such as the Ferris wheel. Octoberfest is one of the main ways local businesses and locals get straight into the fall spirit.

Another way Leavenworth gets into this fall spirit is the Autum Leaf Parade featuring music, bands, floats, cars, candy and a great experience, especially for younger kids.  These events, put on by the City of Leavenworth, are excellent ways to start feeling the fall vibes.

Cascade High School student leadership also provides fun events to get students in the autumn spirit. These events include a pumpkin carving competition, a Halloween costume contest, and decorations in some teachers’ classrooms.  Taking part in one of these events at CHS is a great way to embrace the fall season.

In addition to in-school events, fall marks the beginning of football, girls soccer, cross-country and volleyball. These sporting events help Kodiak students get into the spirit just by showing up and supporting the fall sports teams.  Attending a CHS sporting event, and perhaps even participating in the theme of the evening, is a great way to get into the fall spirit.

Students at CHS also have their own personal ways to get themselves into the spirit. Some people prefer outside activities, while others enjoy staying cozy inside.

“I like to go on walks where the trees have changed colors, and it’s a nice temperature and it feels like fall in a cute little fall outfit,” said Mckenzie Sheppard (12). The red, orange and yellow colors of the trees have a big impact on how beautiful Leavenworth looks and feels during the fall. A short walk around town is an excellent way to embrace nature this fall.

“I like to watch Scary movies in the fall,” explained Adison Driscol (11).

“I like to watch Scary movies in the fall,” explained Adison Driscol (11). There are many options for Halloween Movies and scary movies and they are always a god option to get into the fall mood.

Our local Starbucks also helps a lot of CHS students feel ready for fall, with their pumpkin spice flavoring and new drinks. A lot of students come into school with Starbucks or talk about the pumpkin spice latte when it’s released. “I like to go on walks in the pretty to colors and to go get a fun fall drink,” said Gwen Pehowski (11). Trying anything pumpkin spiced is a great way to taste the flavors of fall.

Overall, there are many ways to get yourself and others into the fall spirit when you live in Leavenworth. The town itself makes its own fall spirit, the school influences the fall mood and students take advantage of the colors and weather they are provided to fully put them in the spirit.
