Having a job and going to school at the same time can be tricky to manage, but comes with many benefits at the same time.

Many CHS students enjoy the financial benefits of local employment, but struggle to balance this with schoolwork and athletics.

“Trying to get all my work done at school so I don't have to do any when I get home after practice [is a challenge],” said Frankie Rosario(12).

Some tips for balancing the pressures of work, athletics and a job are to...

  1. Talk with teachers.  Students can always communicate with their teachers about getting more time on their schoolwork when needed.  Teachers at Cascade care deeply about their students’ success and are compassionate when approached about the struggles students are facing.

  2. Carefully schedule work.  Students can carefully schedule work for weekends, summertime, and occasional evenings when they aren’t busy with finals or athletics.  Local businesses work with their student employees to support their education and are realistic with schedules for these very busy people.

Balancing both school and work can provide many academic and monetary benefits for students.
