How to get More Involved

Cascade has many ways students can participate in extracurricular activities and be more involved.

At CHS, there are many clubs to join including Art, Band, Drama, FBLA, Interact, MEChA, Publications, Speech and Debate, Sustainability and much more. This is where many students make new friends and get to help outside of school.

Throughout the school year, CHS has school events like sports games, concerts for band and choir, plays, assemblies and even state competitions where students can volunteer or join to participate.

“I think people should be involved just because it'll bring a lot more spirit to our school, it'll bring a lot more involvement for everyone and bring more experiences and a better experience in high school. There will be more fun activities and everyone will have a closer connection to one another, because we are a small school so if we do all participate in activities it'll bring our school closer together and more out there cause we don't really have a lot of that,” explained Valeria Oyos (12).

A lot of the clubs at Cascade organize fundraisers: MEChA, for example, does a coin drive for Upper Valley MEND near Christmas time. MEChA isn't the only club that helps fundraise. Cascade also has several community service opportunities that are organized by ASB, like helping with parking on busy weekends or in the concessions stand and fundraising for one’s graduating class.

Cascade has many assemblies, and many students have fun participating in them whether it's speeches or games that they are doing. Also, most years CHS goes to state for Publications, Knowledge Bowl, TSA, FBLA and Speech and Debate.  This gives students an opportunity to compete and demonstrate their academic prowess.

Each year, each class gets to vote on who will represent them in the ASB election. Anyone can run to be an ASB representative for their class. There are four positions at each grade level and at the executive level: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. When running candidates must promote themselves and convince their peers to cast their votes in their favor.

Throughout the year, CHS has several weeks where there is a different theme each day for a week. Whenever students participate, they get their pictures taken and get to be in the yearbook for that spirit week. It is also a fun way to dress up with friends or just for fun. There are also themes for game days with many students dressing up and supporting their team in the student section.

Cascade has sports all year around, this includes girls' soccer, cross country, football, cheer, and volleyball in the fall; wrestling, boys', and girls' basketball, as well as cheer in the winter; finally in the spring there is baseball, golf, tennis, boys' soccer, softball, and track.

Overall extracurricular activities are an excellent way to discover new interests, make new friends, and learn valuable skills outside of the classroom. They can help you uncover your passions and improve your college application.
