Ski season is quickly approaching with snow on the way and much to look forward to. There are many things skiers can do to prepare for the season to be ready to hit the slopes, whether they need to browse the inventory of Black Diamond or Salomon for some new gear, or buy a season pass for Mission Ridge or Stevens so that they can ski all winter long.

The first thing you may want to think about when it comes to preparing for the season is gear. Some people may just have to walk into their garage and grab their skis or boards and be set. But if you’re in need of a new setup, you better start looking. There are some sites you can browse to get used gear which usually happen to be cheaper. You can look at Ebay and Craigslist to see if anyone is selling used gear for the season.

“This ski season I am most looking forward to attempting a backflip and I will probably break my neck, but it’ll be fun,” claimed Ben Jerome (11).

“I usually browse Black Diamond or Head.com and I usually save up enough to buy new skis and then look for hand-me-down boots,” said Ben Jerome (11). There are some brands that have some great gear that are stylish and work well.

“I think North Face is a great brand because it is very stylish,” said Micah Saugen (10), who plans to look for gear like jackets and snow pants this year.

If you already have your own gear, you will want to make sure it's all prepped.

“I wax my skis with super-fast wax and sharpen the edges on my skis and get hyped to prepare my ski fit,” stated Cordelia Freeland (10).

The next thing you may want to look into for the upcoming season is buying a season pass. Yes, you can always buy day passes, but by purchasing a season pass you can skip waiting in line every time for a lift ticket and you can save money.

Cascade School District students can receive a pass for free by meeting reading goals at the elementary levels and attaining a set GPA at the upper grade levels.

Season passes allow you to ski all season long and just show up at the mountain and hit the slopes. This can allow skiers to skip the typical long lines. To buy a season pass for the resort of your choosing, you can either buy one at the resort or sometimes on their website. Once you have received your pass, enjoy the season!

Once you have gotten all the gear and passes you need to start off the season, there are many experiences to look forward to and fun memories to make.

“This ski season I am excited for powder days, hitting the slopes with Jewel and attempting a backflip,” said Cordelia Freeland (10). Learning a backflip seems to be a popular thing to look forward to for the ski season of 2023.

“This ski season I am most looking forward to attempting a backflip and I will probably break my neck, but it’ll be fun,” claimed Ben Jerome (11). Along with preparing for ski season you always want to be thinking about staying safe even while doing backflips. There are safety courses you can take to make sure your safety skills are sharp before the season begins.

Once you can check off your checklist to get prepared for the upcoming 2023 season, you are ready to hit the slopes and enjoy your $25-dollar fries at the lodge after a long day of skiing.
