Leavenworth’s Bavarian Bagel Company (BBC) has quickly become a local favorite for students, families, and tourists alike. Located at 905 Commercial Street, Suite 2, the café offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere, fresh bagels, and a variety of drinks that make it a perfect spot for breakfast, brunch, or a casual snack. Owned by Sydney and Taylor Lapinski along with Sage Worden, BBC started at local farmers markets before opening its first storefront in Leavenworth in 2023, with a grand opening on October 5, 2024. A second location recently opened in Cashmere at 412 Aplets Way.

Atmosphere and Service  Walking into the shop, visitors are greeted with the warm, woodsy interior and the comforting smell of freshly baked bagels. Fall-themed decorations, cozy lighting, and seasonal artwork create an organized, welcoming space. Despite the small interior, additional outdoor seating allows for groups to enjoy their meals comfortably. Staff members are diligent, efficient, and friendly, even during busy times. Lundgren noted, “The service was great, especially having a lot of people at once; they were very patient and very nice.”

Menu and Options  BBC offers 11 bagel flavors and 17 cream cheese “schmears,” plus build-your-own sandwich options and signature creations inspired by Leavenworth’s outdoor environment. Breakfast bagels include options like the hearty “Trailblazer,” with scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar, hashbrowns, and cream cheese, and the “Summit Scramble,” which comes with scrambled egg, sausage or bacon, cheddar, spicy mayo, and optional vegetables. Lighter options like the “Evergreen Delight” feature turkey, sprouts, pickled red onions, pepper jack cheese, and dill pickle cream cheese. Specialty sandwiches like the “Lost Lake Lox” include Pike Place lox, capers, pickled red onion, fresh dill, and cream cheese.

House-made drinks are also a highlight.

House-made drinks are also a highlight. Hot mochas, iced lattes, chai, and specialty beverages complement the bagels well. Lundgren described the hot mocha as having “a lot more flavor of coffee, and less chocolate but it is still really good.”

Taste and Quality  Students were impressed with the flavor combinations and freshness. Students sampled the Alpine Avocado bagel, noting the tang of pickled red onions and the kick of chili crisp. Parker Hollatz (12) enjoyed the strawberry cream cheese, remarking, “It was very delicious; however, I should have chosen a blueberry or plain bagel instead of an Everything Bagel.” Payton Smith (9) praised the hot chocolate: “It was really sweet, but the perfect amount of sweet—not too much.”

Pricing and Accessibility  BBC offers meals ranging from $5 to $16.75, making it an affordable choice for students and families. Sydney Lapinski explained, “The most expensive ingredients for our bagels are the meats and dairy products.” Despite higher-cost items, the café remains a good value for the quality and portion size.

Community and Concept  The idea for BBC emerged from the owners’ desire to create a coffee shop and grab-and-go breakfast option that didn’t yet exist in Leavenworth. Sydney Lapinski shared, “We knew we wanted some sort of coffee shop, sit-down, or grab-and-go breakfast. And then we landed on bagels—we wanted to figure out something that wasn’t around the area already.” The café’s welcoming environment, carefully crafted menu, and connection to the local community have made it a standout destination in downtown Leavenworth.

“We knew we wanted some sort of coffee shop, sit-down, or grab-and-go breakfast. And then we landed on bagels—we wanted to figure out something that wasn’t around the area already.”

Conclusion  From the first bite to the last sip of a latte, Bavarian Bagel Company delivers an exceptional experience in both taste and atmosphere. Students and locals alike recommend BBC for breakfast, brunch, or a casual snack, praising its fresh ingredients, creative flavors, and cozy setting. With its variety of bagels, house-made drinks, and inviting ambiance, BBC has earned its place as a must-visit café in Leavenworth.
