Brave New World is a standard Marvel movie, nothing spectacular, but that does not mean it was not enjoyable, just a bit mediocre.
Like most Marvel movies, the acting in it was good. Anthony Mackie did an excellent job as Sam Wilson/Captain America and was enjoyable to watch.
The movie’s effects were fairly good, especially with Red Hulk, and the stunts and action scenes were well done.
Where the movie falters was with its plotline. This movie does expect the viewer to have seen the show that came before it, so those who haven’t may be a bit confused at parts. The problem is that the plot wasn’t incredibly engaging, and it was hard to get invested in. It also felt disconnected and did not have a strong main story, rather it seemed that writers were trying to resolve previous plot threads from other Captain America movies.
A strong part was with Isaiah Bradley, played by Carl Lumbly, following the ideas of previous Captain America movies with the brainwashing like the character of Bucky Barns; however, this repetitive concept felt a bit overdone and predictable in this installment.
Overall, Captain America Brave New World is a mediocre movie that had potential but fell short. Unless you are a Marvel superfan, it is not worth the time to watch. The main character of Sam Wilson is never deeply explored and even Anthony Mackie great acting couldn’t save the lackluster development. Additionally, the cinematography is mediocre, and the only thing of interest is the action scenes.
Despite its shortcomings, some Kodiaks are still planning to see the movie...if they are invited.
I would “definitely [go see it] if someone asked me to go see it, my family likes to watch Marvel movies,” said Tenley Delisi (9).
