As a new school year gets started, students at Cascade High School see the latest ASB initiatives enacted at CHS. The graduating class of 2025 organized senior parking spot painting as a way to raise school spirit, celebrate seniors and fundraise. On Tuesday, August 20th, the senior class gathered in the CHS parking lot with brushes and paint in hand to literally leave their mark at Cascade. This event ran from 8am to 12pm; students who had not purchased a parking spot were still able to buy one at the painting party for $35.

Jaxon Groby (12) explained his design: “I painted my name J, A, X and my soccer number, number four. When I got [t]here, I had no plan on buying a spot and then my buddy Ethan Davies was deciding to buy a spot and then I was like well I want to do it next to him, so I decided to buy a spot.”

This event was also a fundraiser for the senior class, purchases for parking spots started at the end of the 2024 school year. Forms had to be filled out and turned in, predesigns were also needed before students could start painting.

“This took a lot of convincing, a lot of writing up emails, interviews. I also had to write up all the paperwork for it to make sure we knew the rules and all that stuff for it and got the criteria and get everybody on board and we made it happen,” said Leadership student in charge of the initiative Ethan Davis (12).

Leadership had been working on this the year prior, getting the needed approvals. This is the first annual senior parking spot painting fundraiser for CHS. Seniors who chose to buy a parking spot got to personalize their chosen parking space. Seniors had to bring their own water-based paint and paintbrushes, along with other things they might want to add. Tuesday, during the parking painting lot party, was the only day seniors could paint their parking spots, they had to bring out their art skills in a short amount of time.

This was a great way for the 2025 class to start their last year of high school and an excellent tradition moving forward.

The CHS parking lot is now filled with color and CHS seniors’ personal touch, every morning seniors have the joy of parking in their personalized parking spot. Their parking spots will remain painted until the end of the 2025 school year when seniors must clear off their spots in preparation for the following class. This was a great way for the 2025 class to start their last year of high school and an excellent tradition moving forward.
