Cascade High School celebrates Senior Night for the Cross Country Team on October 15, 2024. Under foggy skies and a crisp autumn breeze, Cascade High School honored its senior cross-country athletes during a memorable Senior Night at Enchantment Park. Friends, family, and enthusiastic fans joined the event to celebrate the achievements of the senior runners who have dedicated years to the sport.
To start the evening off, the crowd cheered on the runners as they took to the course for their final home meet of the season. The atmosphere was exciting to say the least, with Cascade fans cheering in support of their athletes. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams ran very well, showcasing their hard work and training that they have been working at throughout the season.
The evening began with a special ceremony after the boys' and girls’ races, where each senior was recognized for their unique contributions to the team. Cascade’s XC coach, Mr. Massey, kicked off the night with a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the hard work and perseverance demonstrated by the athletes throughout their high school careers.
“I think it is really cool that we take the time as a team to recognize all the hard work these people have put into this sport and this team, but it also makes me sad having to see the seniors leave knowing I won’t get another season with them,” said cross country runner Jewel Leroy(11).

Each senior was presented with a red rose and a gift bag from their coaches and parents. Among those honored were team captains Caroline Menna (12), Cruz Martinez (12), and Ben Jerome (12) who have all been incredible in leading their teams to many victories and fostering a sense of community within the team.
“Senior night recognizes the work we’ve put in over the course of our time in cross country and all of the memories that we have made,” stated Menna.
The event also showcased the XC senior banner with all the seniors dressed up as their head coach, Mr. Massey, in his classroom. Many parents thought this idea was hilarious, and it brought a sense of levity to the night.
The Cascade High School cross country team continues to train as they prepare for the district championship and hope to make it to the state championship. With the support of each other and the community, the seniors are eager to finish their high school careers on a high note, setting the stage for the next years of runners.
