It might only be March, but the CHS 2024-25 school year scheduling process is already happening. When scheduling students must really think about what they want to do after high school; knowing or having an idea of what they are interested in will help them select classes that are geared toward their future career or interests.
“I think that students thinking about a pathway into one of our Career and Technical Educations pathways is a great thing to focus on,” said Ms. Schafer.
Before students register, Ms. Schafer CHS counselor, goes into classes and talks to students about pre-registration and what classes may be helpful and a good fit. There are several career-specific classes offered at Cascade High School that align directly with jobs in the real world. Some of these classes include shop, the culinary department and sports med. Taking one of these classes would give students a head start into these fields if it is in their interest. “I think that students thinking about a pathway into one of our Career and Technical Educations pathways is a great thing to focus on,” said Ms. Schafer.
If a student does not know what they want to do after high school, they might explore a little bit. Schafer suggests taking some classes that are outside of your comfort zone. If a student ends up liking what the class was about or finds it interesting, then taking similar classes can help to build a future career.
Upcoming juniors should be open . Being a junior comes with a lot of responsibility and commitment. When students are juniors, they have a lot of decision-making to do that will impact and potentially pave the way to the rest of their future. If a student has plans to attend college, doesn’t know or simply wants to explore, now is the time to do it.
Pre-registration is April 18th through the 22nd . Once Kodiaks decide on their classes, Ms. Schafer will create their schedule, and finalized schedules will be completed April 22nd.
