Prom is a single night of music, dancing, and formal attire, but it is the result of months of planning, collaboration, and intentional decision-making. The 2026 theme, A Night in Greece, reflects the creativity and effort of the Class of 2027 Associated Student Body (ASB).
Planning actually began last spring, when the Class of 2027 worked to secure a new location for this year’s celebration. In the fall of 2025, juniors solicited theme ideas from seniors during Flex class, and later in the year, seniors voted to select A Night in Greece. From the very beginning, the junior leadership team aimed to involve seniors in as many steps of the process as possible, so their input shaped key decisions like theme, decorations, and music.
provide a memorable and inclusive prom experience while responsibly managing funds through thoughtful budgeting and fundraising, ensuring the event is affordable, high-quality, and accessible for all students.
At the start of this school year, ASB members created a mission statement to guide their work: to provide a memorable and inclusive prom experience while responsibly managing funds through thoughtful budgeting and fundraising, ensuring the event is affordable, high-quality, and accessible for all students.
“My goal is to make the organization process as efficient as possible while meeting the objectives outlined in our mission statement,” said Ada Missal (11), president of the Class of 2027. Planning included booking the venue, coordinating decorations, organizing food, and arranging other aspects of the event.
Decorations are designed to bring the Greek theme to life. Students are creating artificial grapes and vines, draping fabrics, arranging balloons and string lights, constructing Greek-style head statues, and building handmade Greek columns. Their goal is to create an immersive atmosphere that transports students to Greece. Even the food planned for the evening will reflect the theme, adding another layer of cohesion and fun to the event.
“I’m really excited about what the students are doing to prepare for this year’s prom,” said Class of 2027 advisor Ms. Robison. “They have so many creative ideas and are trying new things we hope everyone will enjoy. They’re working hard to make the event both memorable for the Class of 2026 and a successful fundraiser for the Class of 2027.”
To keep costs manageable, the Class of 2027 opted for a curated playlist instead of a DJ. Tenley Delisi (10) is organizing the playlist, which includes song suggestions from students. “I want it to feel like an earthquake,” said Evelyn Sohn (11), describing her vision for a high-energy, packed dance floor.
Prom will be held on May 16 at Pine River Ranch, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $30 and will be on sale May 13 and 14 during lunch. Handmade invitations will be sent to every student, and emails will be sent to parents to promote attendance. Funds from ticket sales will be deposited into the Class of 2027 ASB account to support future senior events, including the senior class trip.
Soon, seniors will also vote for this year’s prom king and queen, adding another element of excitement and tradition to the evening.
“A fun time to get your party on and be yourself, a night to shred the dance floor and be silly with my friends,” said Sally Fortney (11), summarizing what prom means to students. Making the event memorable through decorations, theme, food, and overall fun is a top priority.
Class Treasurer Thayer Robison (11) said, “We hope to sell around 150 tickets this year, raising roughly $10,000.”
Financial planning remains a central focus. By carefully managing expenses and maximizing participation, the Class of 2027 aims to balance affordability with quality and fun, ensuring a night to remember for the Class of 2026.
