Every day, kids look forward to lunchtime at school. It is not just a break from class; it is a chance to dig into what the cafeteria serves up. Here is my take on the food: it is very flavorful and fulfilling most days, and it gets you feeling energized and ready for class.

On Monday the CHS cafeteria served hotdogs, a classic school lunch choice. The bun was fresh and nice to bite into. The hotdog itself was okay, but it could have used more flavor. I added some ketchup to make it tastier. Sadly, Trail HeyI (11) dropped my last bit on the ground. “I'm really sorry I dropped your hotdog,” said Heyl. “It looked really tasty.”

On Tuesday, there were two lunch options: mac and cheese or a pork sandwich. I combined the two with a pork mac and cheese. This was a tasty surprise! The mac and cheese had a delicious flavor, especially with the bits of pork mixed in. It was a bit too wet, but it did not spoil the fun of eating it.

I love corn dogs, and these made a good lunch on Wednesday. The outside was crispy, and the inside was juicy. They came with a sauce that made them even better, though they could have been warmer.

Pasole was Thursday's meal. I could not get lunch, but Arlo Gibbs (10) was able to eat lunch this day.

The pizza on Friday was a hit. It had ham and pineapple on it and it tasted great.

The pizza on Friday was a hit. It had ham and pineapple on it and it tasted great. I wish I had remembered to grab some ranch dressing; it would have made it even better. The pizza was a little greasy, but it was so crispy and delicious.

Overall, school lunch is particularly good most days. Plus, you will not need to spend a lot of money to enjoy it. I cannot wait to see what they will serve up next.
