Full of action, drama, and brotherhood, The Accountant 2 was released in theaters on April 25. Starring Ben Afleck and Jon Bernthal, the sequel to the first 2016 Accountant movie continues the story of Christian Wolff, a math genius and trained fighter, and his brother Brax as they track down a missing woman while fighting back against a dangerous assassin.
I saw the first movie a few years ago and I wasn’t really expecting them to make a sequel. The plot was well wrapped up, so I didn’t know how they were going to continue the story line in the second movie when I saw that one was being made. However, I was very excited and had high expectations for the second movie. I was also looking forward to the main actors returning for the sequel, despite it being almost ten years after the first movie was made.
I attended the movie with my friend, Harper Baker (12), in Wenatchee on May 7. We were two out of four people in the entire movie theater, so we had a good amount of space to spread out and enjoy. I was not sure about the beginning of the movie, and didn’t have hope that the movie would live up to my expectations. It seemed like they were changing the characters’ personalities much more than necessary, and I wasn’t sure how the plot was going to go.
I liked the relationships that were built upon from the first movie.
However, after they introduced Brax, the brother of the main character Christian Wolff, I started enjoying the movie more. The writers did a really good job of building up their relationship and making their growth together funny and heartwarming. The relationship between the characters and the chemistry between the actors was by far my favorite part. “The first movie was pretty good. I had no hopes or expectations for the second one, I thought it would be like the same. I liked the relationships that were built upon from the first movie. There was not as much killing as I was expecting. I wish they had done more killing of the plot characters,” said Baker.
All in all, I enjoyed watching this movie. I still believe that the original movie was better, but the sequel did a good job of building and taking something new from the characters and plot. If you are looking for a fun and engaging duology of movies to watch, I would recommend The Accountant and The Accountant 2.
