CHS senior Hunter Rodgers drives a ball 280 at the Cashmere Driving Range.
Before spending your hard-earned money on a round of golf read this review to get insight into our local golf courses.
Leavenworth Golf Course
Leavenworth Golf Course is a laid-back course that has relaxing views and active wildlife. Animals I have seen on the course include families of deer, groundhogs, ducks, squirrels, and even a bear. The greens are usually fast and trees line practically every hole, so make sure you shoot straight. The restaurant on the course offers exceptionally tasty food and a lot of entertainment including a dart board and ping pong. The restaurant and simulator stay open during the off-season for any golfers who can't wait for the snow to melt.
Kahler Glen
Kahler Glen has the best driving range out of all these courses. It’s a hydro range meaning you hit the balls into the water. Kahler Glen has a lot of wildlife and scenic views. Their course is well maintained. Kahler Glen has a wide variety of vacation rentals in case you want to go on a golf binge. The only downside is the long drive to Plain to access the course.
Three Lakes
Three Lakes is a particularly challenging course but that’s what makes it so fun. On most of the holes, you don’t know where the ball lands because there's a lot of elevation change. Three Lakes is a par 72 course located in Malaga that is well maintained. “It has a driving range and is a very pretty course with all around fun holes that aren't bad to walk," said Cascade High School senior and varsity golfer Ty Week.
Highlander
Highlander is personally my favorite course on this list. The cliff views are what make the course so fun. The holes are all incredibly fun and aren't too challenging. There are several holes where you must hit over cliffs which adds to the fun. The proshop is held to ambitious standards and the staff are genuinely nice. The Proshop and simulator are top of the line along with their carts. The outside staff bring carts to guests in the parking lot and are there to take them from guests when they leave. The ground crew always keeps the course well maintained.
Desert Canyon
Desert Canyon is exceptionally long and is cart only. There are multiple out-of-bounds markers and a lot of wind, making it difficult to stay in the fairway. The holes are fun and a good challenge and the proshop is organized. This course is located in Orondo.
Legacy Golf Course
The Legacy Golf Course in Othello is a long course with the most out of bounds I have ever seen. It is often windy and is a long course if you are walking. Some of the holes seem unfinished but it still is a fun course overall. Houses line some of the holes so be careful of that.
Overall, these courses are all fun in their own unique ways and these reviews are just from my experiences playing them.
