“To stay on top of my work I make a list of what I need to do daily so I don't procrastinate and have to rush to get things done later,” said Baylee Unger (11).
Work on time management skills.
Keep a calendar, so you know when assignments are due. Calendars remind you of the tasks that are important and can help you see more clearly when you need to start or finish working on them. Studying over time is a much better plan for success on tests than rushing it the week or night before. This way you have more time to process what you are studying. Prioritize the most important tasks, if you have a big project due in a week you might want to prioritize that project. You can save the easier homework for later and get help with the bigger project while you're in school. Use Flex time to access teachers and ask questions.

Create good habits
Creating good habits is one way to manage time well. As well as taking good notes in class so that later you can review the notes and the content can stick in your brain. Any small habit is good to form right now so that you can continue to use that habit later in other areas of your life.
Use your resources
Utilizing your resources, along with most accomplishments in life, succeeding in high school is challenging to do without help. In high school, you have a lot of access to many different resources, and you can usually find sources of help you hadn’t even thought about. Remember to not hesitate to ask for help when it's needed whether it's from a teacher, parents, other family members, or friends. And take the extra time we have at flex to catch up on any assignments if it is needed, if you stay caught up with the class it makes the work less stressful.
Personalized success tips
Create a list of success tips: things that help you personally to achieve your best. Every student learns differently and has their own ways that lead them to success on an assignment, create a list of little tips that help you through schoolwork. This can help you build more confidence in your own abilities to problem solve and efficiently get work done. If you start strong, you will have more success later into the second semester. Setting these habits now will be helpful in other aspects of life after high school too. Prioritizing your academic success in high school in a balanced way is a very good skill to have. If you stay on top of your assignments it can lead to enjoying learning more. High school is a very safe and supportive place to do so, you will thank yourself later.
