Long for More Prom

Once a year, prom takes place. On May sixth, prom was set up in the wrestling room at Cascade High School. It lasted from 8-10pm with students of CHS showing up with dates or friends from other schools as well. The Athletic wing of the high school was fully decked out with a masquerade theme, they had masks for the seniors, as well as snacks, water, and sparkling cider for when people got too hot and thirsty. At the entrance, Mr. Joya and Ms. Schafer were taking tickets from the people who wanted to attend this year's prom. Inside the wrestling room was a continuation of theme masquerade theme with black, silver, and gold, and a few tables here and there, as well as speakers blasting music and a lot of party lights to fuel the crowd.

“It was pretty interesting having it be in the wrestling room," said Rayen Blue (11)

Things started to pick up at 8:30pm when more parties of people and seniors started to show up. Throughout the dance everyone joined one big group near the lights where they jumped, danced, sang, and joined in on an impromptu mosh pit. The heat was increasing inside the wrestling room, with more people leaving to get fresh air at around 9:30pm. Not very many people participated in the masquerade theme but instead everybody wore formal clothing. Finally, prom was closed down at 10 pm, most everybody dispersed to go do their own thing. “I’m definitely going to remember the amount of times I got stepped on,” said Rayen Blue (11). “It was pretty interesting having it be in the wrestling room.”

Prom is something most every student looks forward to from the beginning of second semester or even right after homecoming. The preparation for prom starts a month in advance when the idea and theme of prom is undecided. The junior class sent out a poll to the class of ‘23 and seniors votes determined the theme of prom. Two to three weeks before the event, the Leadership team cracked down on prom getting everything together and made. “We started in like April or March, starting to think about it, and then as we got closer, we kind of cracked down on more planning,” said Rhetta Cummings (11) “It has caused quite a bit of stress.” Rhetta Cummings worked tirelessly to help plan and get everything together for prom.

This year's prom was overall enjoyable and memorable, leaving most people happy and satisfied. As a new ASB reelection has recently occurred, people anticipate what next year's prom will hold.
