As an active member of the Leavenworth community, Giovanny Rosario strives to go after what he believes in. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Giovanny will be changing the world in whichever path he takes in life.
Giovanny spends his time in the outdoors, mostly biking. He said, “I love the outdoors. That’s what I enjoy most.” Giovanny also remarked that he is very involved in politics, and most likely anyone else involved in the area in politics would know him. Next year, as a freshman in college, Giovanny will be attending Eastern Washington University while studying Public Administration and Public Policy. Giovanny’s advice to the world and mark he wants to leave is showing people that they should live for themselves and not care what others think. Giovanny also added, “work hard for what you want.”
All of Giovanny’s teachers speak incredibly highly of him. Mr. Sunitsch is one of Giovanny’s teachers and explained that “Giovanny is a very hard worker and has a great attitude towards life and learning.” Mr. Sunitsch also said, “Giovanny shows up for every class Zoom or in-person class – always can count on him being in class ready to learn. He also asks appropriate questions of class material and is very respectful.”
AVID teacher Mrs. Brixey explained that Giovanny is an incredible listener in every aspect. She said that “he actually hears people” and goes above the normal to understand what someone is thinking. Mrs. Brixey said that “he has a well-developed ability to see other people, so he creates connections that help support him and others.” She also illustrated the idea that he is “always fearless about asking questions and checking in.”
English teacher Mrs. Rosenfield explained that she loves “that he is always willing to help people, and he's not afraid to speak up in class to ask the hard questions.” She added “he's a deep critical thinker, and he's the most politically-attuned student I've ever had. I sincerely look forward to voting for him someday!” All Giovanny’s teachers equally agree that he goes above and beyond for his interests in politics and will one day surely make a difference in the world in some way.
Leadership advisor Ms. Robison said, “Giovanny is a blessing. He cares about what happens at CHS on a systemic level and understands how to make systemic changes that positively impact individual students. He was instrumental in implementation of the 3omin2winIt Program aimed at helping freshmen have success at Cascade and did an impressive job of honoring all veterans through his interview with Dave Lane. He is dependable and conscientious of doing a good job in all that he does. I am very grateful to have been able to work with Gio.”
Not only do Giovanny’s teachers speak highly of him, but also his classmates and friends. Julia Vandel described Giovanny as someone “you know you can turn to”. Julia said that “he is a great listener and is one of the most patient people I have ever met.” She went on to say that “overall Gio is selfless and humble and so mature, he’s going to do great things in the future, I have no doubts about that.”
Giovanny’s close friend Yohanna Bernal described Giovanny in one word as curious. He inspires her through his curiosity and his ability to “go above and beyond and is always trying to find issues to solve.” Yohanna described her favorite memories with him from their handshake, to studying in history class. Yohanna said that since they were the only Spanish speakers in their class, they would help each other out.
Aidan Ringel, a classmate of Giovanny and someone who has worked alongside Giovanny in many political movements explained that “Giovanny is very persistent in all of the work he is doing with NCW Young Voters.”
Overall, Giovanny is known throughout the Cascade School District as a student who is striving to make great changes in the world and will surely do just that. As an incredible student and classmate to all from his work ethic to his deep curiosity, his understanding and want to understand other’s better as well as his passion for politics and making change, Giovanny Rosario is bound to do and accomplish great things.
