As November comes to an end and Thanksgiving approaches, the second and third period culinary class taught by Mr. Haberberger, made a Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate the upcoming holidays while continuing to develop their cooking skills.

On the Friday before Thanksgiving, the two culinary classes spent their respective periods choosing what food to make. Once they had decided, they made a shopping list of everything they needed.

On the following Monday, they started their cooking so they could have the feast on Wednesday.

A member of the third period class Cody Salmon (11) led his group in making a pumpkin pie. “I chose to make a pumpkin pie, because my aunt always makes a great pumpkin pie and I wanted to try and make one, also I just wanted to eat one,” said Salmon.

In second period,  Noah Copson (11), Gretchen Leach (11), and Jackson Feeney (12) made mashed potatoes.

“It seemed easy and in my opinion mash potatoes are the best part of the thanksgiving dinner, except for maybe the chicken or turkey,” said Copson.

This dinner is hosted every year by Mr. Haberberger, he just switches up the classes participating. In the past he has done this with his Living Skills class, but this year he chose the Culinary class.

It's also nice because not everyone is able to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, so it's nice to do this so they can have one,” said Mr. Haberberger.

“My favorite thing about doing this dinner with my classes is that everyone comes from different backgrounds, so they all make different food, so we often don’t have all of the traditional Thanksgiving foods. It's also nice because not everyone is able to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, so it's nice to do this so they can have one,” said Mr. Haberberger.
