Thanksgiving is a time to stuff for eating delicious food and spending quality time with family and loved ones. Many people will be settling down with pumpkin pie and a hot beverage while watching nostalgic movies. Many people don’t watch Thanksgiving movies; there is not a large variety of Thanksgiving movies. The films that becomes the movies watched every year with family become the ones that hold the best memories.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Charlie Brown is a classic movie to watch on Thanksgiving. The movie is about a boy whose whole life is average and about how he has a hard time fitting in with other kids in his life. The movie shows how to overcome life situations with playful imagination included. The first comic was made in October 2, 1950, by Charles M. Schulz. The first movie, called A Boy Named Charlie Brown, was made on December 4, 1969.

Charlie Brown was going to his grandma’s for Thanksgiving and ended up having a full table of univited people joining him. Now it’s all up to his dog, Snoopy, and his bird, Woodstock , to prepare the Thanksgiving feast to feed all the kids. As they all sit together with full plates of food and kids surrounding the table, Linus says a speech that shocked the kids. Many dramatic events occur and they end up talking about what they are thankful for. They talk about how thankful they should be because of what they have. They learn lessons that they haven’t thought before.

The movie is short, but sweet and sentimental. Nothing too rough, but a straight forward message that kids can understand too. This movie encourages to be be grateful and remember the good times and people who make life better.

Garfield's Thanksgiving

The favorite orange tabby cat, Garfield, is the main character of the movie. On June 19 of 1978 the first comic was made by the founder of the beloved cat Garfield. Jim Davis is the cartoonist for all of the Garfield movies. The movie is full of comedy and hand-drawn animation. The first movie called Garfield the Movie was made in June 11, 2004. While the first show came out on November 2, 2009. The ratings from people’s first impressions were 94% of people liked the movie. The cat is perceived to be a selfish, hungry, and manipulative. He loves to get his way and torture puppies, such as Odie. On rare occasions, he learns life lessons in different time frames throughout the series of the movies and shows of Garfield.

Garfield starts out with his morning waking Jon Arbuckle, his owner, to make him breakfast with a loud bang that wakes him up. As soon he learns he has to go to the vet, he comes up with a plan to divert Jon’s attention from the appointment. Things don’t go his way and he ends up with a diet arrangement and Jon inviting the veterinarian on a date. As the evening is minutes away, Jon Arbuckle dresses up to impress his date. Dinner plans are causing disruption in the schedule. Lucky for Jon and Garfield, a certain relative saves the Thanksgiving Day.

This movie is comical and a classic. Any classic movies about Garfield will bring dark humor and violence into a kid show and change the whole meaning into a wholesome family time.

Movies are what bring families and loved ones together. A Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving and Garfield’s Thanksgiving are some of the best films to watch as a kid. Sophomore Elise Almeida also agrees and stated, “I watch it almost every year. After we eat and everyone's tired, we just turn it on and casually watch it. It’s memorable to me because of the amount of times, I’ve seen it. It's just so cute. It's impossible to feel bad watching the Peanuts.” It seems like a lot of students have Charlie Brown in their hearts. Another sophomore, Zoey Sheffields said her favorite was, “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” She explained that, “It was memorable to me because when we first watched it was at my grandparents' house and it's my dad's favorite thanksgiving movie. I thought it was really funny, my family has always enjoyed John Candy movies, he was just a funny guy.”
