One movie I recommend for getting into the Christmas spirit is Klaus. The story follows Jesper, a spoiled and reluctant postman, who is sent to the remote and gloomy town of Smeerensburg as a last chance to prove himself. There, he meets Klaus, a woodsman with a talent for crafting toys. As Jesper begins delivering Klaus’s toys to the town’s children, the town gradually brightens through acts of forgiveness, gratitude, and companionship. Through this unexpected partnership, Jesper discovers purpose, friendship, and the true spirit of giving, ultimately transforming both himself and the town of Smeerensburg.

As the story unfolds, the film illustrates an important lesson: a true selfless act always sparks another, showing how kindness and generosity can ripple through a community.
Klaus is perfect to watch closer to Christmas because it teaches lessons about gratitude, thankfulness, and the joy of giving, all set in a charming winter town. The movie is full of emotion, making it easy to connect with the characters and their journeys.
I watched this movie with my sister, Anja Lundgren (12), who chose it because it’s her favorite Christmas movie. “My favorite part of the movie is when the little girl gets her sled from Klaus and has to slide around—she’s super-duper happy,” said Lundgren.
Many Christmas movies follow similar formulas, but Klaus stood out to Cordelia Freeland (12). “It is interesting because Santa is an antagonist in the beginning,” said Freeland.
I recommend this movie to anyone looking to get into the Christmas spirit or simply enjoy a fun and heartwarming film. With a mix of humor, adventure, and holiday magic, Klaus has something for everyone.
