Valentine's day is typically celebrated with loved ones by giving them cards, flowers or a present to show them affection. Valentine's day originated  in Lupercalia, and ancient roman festival honoring Juno, the goddesses of marriage. Around the 17th century in great Britian, they started celebrating Valentines Day. It was common for friends and lovers to exchange gifts like handwritten notes and by 1900 printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. The first Valentine’s Day was in the year 496 AD.

Here at Cascade High School (CHS) there are many different events that happen for Valentine's Day. One of the events is the FBLA fundraiser where hot cocoa can be delivered to that special someone. Students could prepurchase a $3 hot cocoa for their Valentine(s) between February 1st to 13th, and it was delivered on the 14th during first period. Interact Club also spread love by baking cookies for Mountain Meadows, a local nursing home, to remind them that CHS appreciates them and cares for all of them. Cascade also had a Flex Fun where there were three stations in the Commons, and each station was a different activity. The stations had Valentine's Day candy and students competed.

This year at CHS there were a lot of couples who gave each other gifts but dear friends also gave one another a Valentine's gift. People celebrated Valentines Day with their loved ones by going out to dinner, getting their significant other a special gift, or by making dinner with each other.

“Don't be afraid to be yourself and don't worry so much about making that person happy because you're just trying to find people, your in a hurry, don’t be,’’ said Mr. Haberberger, CHS Culinary teacher.

Many CHS students have a special someone, but many do not.  It’s more important to be in a healthy relationship than to simply be in a relationship.  “Don't be afraid to be yourself and don't worry so much about making that person happy because you're just trying to find people, your in a hurry, don’t be,’’ said Mr. Haberberger, CHS Culinary teacher.
