On February 9, parents and elementary students gathered at the Cascade High School commons from 4–6 PM for a Valentine’s Day–themed family dance. Music, dancing, and laughter filled the air as students celebrated with their parents.
The dance was organized by the CHS Associated Student Body (ASB) as both a fundraiser and a way to build connections within the district. Cascade ASB lost significant funding for the 2025–26 school year due to the loss of parking lot revenue during the Christmas lighting weekends. The Family Fun Dance was introduced this year as an alternative fundraising event.
Tickets were advertised through flyers, social media posts, and posters at local businesses. Each ticket cost $10, with 100% of the profits going to ASB.
“I believe the dance was very successful. The kids and parents enjoyed it, and I think attendance will grow every year we do it,” said ASB Secretary Max Spiegel (12).
The event included more than just dancing. The culinary class, taught by Mr. Haberberger, baked cookies for a decorating table. ASB set up tables with games for children, and a Valentine’s Day–themed photo booth allowed families to capture memories.
“The kids loved playing with balloons and the games we set up. The candy and cookie decorating stations were also big hits,” said Spiegel.

The night concluded with a raffle, giving out stuffed animal prizes to many lucky students while providing parents another way to support ASB through donations.
“The layout of the dance was super fun, and the team had great ideas to make it successful. We raised a decent amount of money for the executive team, allowing us to continue running more fun events this year,” said ASB Vice President Micah Wilder (12). “The photo booth was my favorite part.”
The Family Fun Dance is now planned to be held annually as a fundraiser and as a way to bring excitement and community spirit to the winter months.
