Sophomore, Gavin Pulse is described by some of his peers as “quiet, a genius, funny and smart.” But what makes Gavin, Gavin?
Mr. Betz, a staff member at Cascade High School who has taught and coached Gavin as a student and as an athlete in 7-9th grade described Gavin as, “Respectful and hard working.” He also said, “He treats everyone around him with respect and kindness and puts his best effort into his schoolwork as well as his extra-curricular activities.”
Ms. Robison, Gavin’s current English teacher said, “Gavin is conscientious in his work and a great communicator. He is always respectful and a great contributor to our classroom. Even virtually, I have enjoyed having Gavin in my class.”
People who watch Gavin play sports can also his determination. Gavin is a two-sport athlete, playing football in the winter and baseball in the spring. Mr. Coffin, the head football coach described Gavin as, “A very hard-working athlete.” He went on to say, “Although he is only a sophomore, we expect some big things from him this football season. He has the skills and ability to be a great football player.” Cascade is hopeful for a football season, if it happens fans can look forward to watching Gavin dominate the field.
As for Gavin’s spare time, he hangs out with his three older brothers and his dog Wally, and plays video games, mainly Call of Duty and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Gavin also hunts elk, deer and bear with Braeden Parton. Each has its own season for hunting and there are many rules hunters must follow. Since he hunts bear, the start of this season is in August. Deer in October and elk in November.
Sophomore Braeden Parton said that, “Hunting with Gavin is super fun he was always down to hike from a mile to 8 miles as long as we are seeing deer he will keep going and going tell we are back to the truck. He is a super fun person to be around and there is never a bad moment when you're with Gavin. All around super fun hunting season with Gavin.”
As for colleges, Gavin doesn’t know where he wants to go and what to study. He wants to go to a four-year college to get a good education. After college he wants to go to the military and become an Army Ranger to serve and protect the things he loves. This regiment specializes in three categories: special operations raids which are designed to seize, destroy or capture enemy facilities or material; forcible entry operations which do airfield seizures, which were key missions in operations; and special reconnaissance is intelligence gathering deep into enemy held territory has led to success in many Ranger operations. After the military, Gavin doesn’t know what he’ll do but we can only guess that it will be fun and full of excitement.
