Abbigail Carnahan (12) is one of the bubbliest students at Cascade High School. Her positivity is memorable and could cheer anybody up in less than a minute. She is known for being a talented cheerleader, but she is also an amazing student, friend, girlfriend, and employee. Anyone who has the privilege to spend time alongside Abbi is truly lucky.
I like that I can show that I can be a leader and make the right decisions for the team,” said Carnahan.
Abbi is known best at CHS as being a head cheerleader. “I like the team and getting to interact with the crowd at games,” said Carnahan. She was one of the captains during the fall cheer season this year and has been one of the long-term cheerleaders at Cascade High School. She co-captains with Natalie Sanchez (12); the pair take on leading the team through each performance. “[Being co-captains is] really good because we have this system since we’ve been like really good friends since like middle school. So, it makes everything really easy,” said Sanchez. Abbi’s cheery attitude makes any difficult task seem simple. “I like that I can show that I can be a leader and make the right decisions for the team,” said Carnahan.
When cheerleading, Abbi is also fearless and ready to take on anything. Being a cheerleader at Cascade has become more of an intense sport in recent years. With a larger group of young women and a new cheer coach every year within the past four years, the cheerleaders have performed more intricate dances and tricks during sports games. After all of these changes in the program, Abbi has taken her experience and truly become one of the most courageous girls on the team. “I think one of my favorite memories with Abbi is when we would do stunting and she would just get on my legs and my arms and she would just fall, like she’ll just plop down and she’d make funny noises,” said Natalie Sanchez.
Rayen Blue, a Whistlepunk employee, said her favorite memory with Abbi was “when she would come into Whistlepunk and get the most annoying milkshake to make.”
Abbi brings her spunk into the classroom and not just the courts and field. Abbi walks into every classroom with a smile on her face. “She brings a positive energy and is a little cheerleader in all of her classes,” said her best friend, Rayen Blue (12). Abbi is a very focused student and includes other people during projects. Mrs. Rieke, the career counselor at Cascade High School, said, “She’s got kind of a really positive aura about her. I mean, being a cheerleader, I think you’ve gotta kind of do that, but I also think that she talks to a lot of people and she’s really friendly and I think that she’s engaging.”
Abbi brings her cheerful attitude to endeavors outside of school as well. Rayen Blue, a Whistlepunk employee, said her favorite memory with Abbi was “when she would come into Whistlepunk and get the most annoying milkshake to make.”
Outside of school, Abbi’s favorite thing to do is to “hang out with my friends.” Abbi is also an incredible friend. Baylee Unger (11) has probably known Abbi the longest as they have been best friends for years. Baylee’s favorite memory with Abbi is “probably when we were at daycare, and we would eat animal crackers on the floor, and we would get in trouble for doing it.” Abbi is extremely friendly and she is able to have a conversation with anyone, which is not easy to do for most people.
Not only is Abbi a great friend, but she is also a great girlfriend. She and Jonas Johnson (11) have been dating for over two years and they could not be happier. “She has like a really nice personality and [she’s] caring and loving. [She] would do anything for me,” said Johnson. The two of them can be seen walking around the halls together during lunch and Flex. They love to spend time with each other and have made many good memories with each other. Jonas’s favorite memory with Abbi is “probably two years ago when we went to the fair together and that was like our first time really hanging out.”
Abbi doesn’t know exactly what college she wants to go to yet, but she has a plan for her future career. “I wanna go to school to be a physical therapist,” said Carnahan. Since Abbi is super hardworking, she will have a lot of options to choose from when she makes her final decision.
Abbi’s hard work should help her to fund college. Abbi used to work at Das Sweet Shop in Leavenworth, but she ended up switching jobs roughly a year ago. “I work at Leavenworth Boutiques, and I do customer service. I fold clothes, and I [do] retail work,” said Carnahan. This job is a good fit for her because of her sense of style that CHS students see every day.
Abbi is a very important student at Cascade High School. Her positivity boosts the energy of every classroom she walks into and she is a passionate cheerleader on and off the field. CHS is very lucky to have her.
