Karlo Cacho is a hard-working girl with a heart full of love, dedication and passion who shines wherever she goes. Cacho has a great personality and is always thinking about others. It is easy for her to make friends and put a smile on someone’s face. Cacho has always been a leader for many people and that's what makes her the great and wonderful person she is today.

Sports were a big part of Cacho’s high school career; she participated in track all four years.

“I’ve always been impressed by her as an athlete. She is a hard worker, she cares, [and] she wants to get better. I really didn’t know that she was a 4.0 valedictorian student. I learned that this year by writing some letters of recommendation for her scholarship. She is super humble, really relatable just in all around good person, not braggy. And very talented,” track coach Carl Haberberger said.

“I decided to do track at first just for fun, I didn't really think I was going to be good, so I thought it was just going to be a chill sport for me. I decided to get into hurdling, and I found out I was good at it. I started taking the sport more seriously and I really liked going to practice,” said Cacho.

Karla also played volleyball for all four years of her high school career. She was an amazing outside hitter who could put a ball now into the deepest corner of the opposing team's court. “For volleyball, that was a sport that just really called me. I thought that it was always fun. I liked the strategy of the game itself, and I really enjoyed getting time on the court. I always strived to be better at volleyball which is why I decided to do this sport all four years of high school,” said Cacho.

Cacho helped to inspire underclassmen with her positive attitude and undeniable skill. “She impacted us because she was a great leader on the court. And even though she didn't play a lot she still showed up for the team and she sacrificed for us volleyball girls,” teammate Sydney Melody (9) said.

Throughout Karla’s four years she has made many friends that she has impacted in many ways. “Karla is my best friend because she is always there for me no matter what. We have now been best friends for five years and even when she doesn’t agree with something I choose she still supports me. Karla is the kindest person and funniest,” Mariana Fonseca (12) said.

Another close friend of Karla’s is senior Cruz Martinez. “Karla has been my friend since middle school. She is very determined and works hard to achieve whatever she sets her mind to, and I admire her for that. My favorite memory with her has to be going shopping with her at Track State. I can’t wait to walk with her at graduation,” Martinez said.

Karla has been working hard all four years of high school. Her senior year has been full of successes and one of her main goals was getting into the University of Washington. “It was cool getting to see her get a scholarship. She has worked really hard, so my favorite memory of hers is her hard work paying off. She was extremely excited to get into UW. She just has worked so hard,” AVID teacher Mailia Renner-Singer said.

Cacho plans on attending the University of Washington in the fall of 2025 where she will be studying Biology. All the hard work she has put in all four years of high school into those big plans that she has worked so hard on.  It is certain that, even as she moves on, Karla will continue to do great things.
