One of the most inviting and dependable presences at Cascade High School is senior Savanna Rowles. Dedicated student, talented athlete, and kind friend and mentor, Savanna is well-known for her diligence and welcoming attitude.

Throughout high school, Savanna has continually taken the most challenging classes at Cascade, including EWU English 11 and 12, UW Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Calculus II, AP Biology, Physics, EWU Psychology, and UW Astronomy and Chemistry. Even through all these challenging courses, Savanna has still maintained her 4.0 GPA, is ranked first in her class, and is on track to be a valedictorian.

“She has taken Pre-calc, Calc I, Calc II, Astronomy, and is in Physics right now with me. She works really hard when she needs to, and she really makes sure she has a good feeling when she knows something or when she needs to work harder to understand it better,” explained Mr. Massey. Not only does Savanna excel in her classes, she also pursues academic greatness through clubs. She is the vice-president of TSA, a club she has been involved with for five years. She is also a captain for Knowledge Bowl and is a part of the Sustainability and Interact clubs.

“I would describe Savanna as a very inquisitive and engaged student. She is a wonderful student to have in class because she is actually interested in engaging in intellectual conversations about content rather than just getting the assignment done and moving on. I love to hear her unique take on things; she always has really interesting ideas. I love talking to Savanna,” said Ms. Rosenfield, Savanna’s English teacher.

Savanna is also an active athlete, participating in varsity soccer and track for four years. “It’s been super fun [to play] with her and she’s always so fun and motivational. She is always encouraging even when we make mistakes,” explained Matilda Swan (10), who played soccer with Savanna.

Not only known for her dedication to school, Savanna is also a welcoming and kind presence for her friends and those around her.

“One thing I love about Savanna is how she is always an uplifting presence to be around, and she always makes me smile,” said Hazel Eschen (12), one of Savanna’s best friends.

“I’ve known Savanna since third grade. She’s a great friend, really kind and not quick to judge,” commented Caden Peterson (12), one of Savanna’s oldest friends.

Outside of school Savanna likes to read, hang out with friends, ski, sing, and roller-skate. After high school, she plans on going to a four-year college to study astrophysics. No matter where Savanna goes after graduation, she will bring joy, kindness, and dedication.
