Senior in the Spotlight: Eduardo “Lalo” Avila
Eduardo Avila, also known as Lalo, is a motivated, kind, and empathetic student at Cascade High School. He has been dedicated to soccer since his freshman year and is involved with M.E.Ch.A. Avila’s proudest moment in high school was passing Sports Med and completing his career pathway. His favorite senior events were Soak a Senior and Powderpuff. Outside of school, he enjoyed going to the gym and playing soccer with friends. His advice to underclassmen was, “Stay focused and don't let your friends distract you.”
After graduation, Avila planned to take psychology in the second semester to explore a potential career as a psychologist. His alternate plan was to attend Central and enroll in culinary school to become a chef.
Senior in the Spotlight: Jayden Cockrum

Jayden Cockrum attended Discovery for all four years. His biggest accomplishment was “reaching [his] senior year”. Cockrum plans to pursue a career in cars or computers after graduation. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends and was excited for graduation. His advice to underclassmen was, “Care about your grades; don't fail freshman year.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Addison Driscoll
Addison Driscoll is a four-year varsity soccer player and three-year golfer. She also enjoys skiing outside of school. Her favorite senior event this year was Soak a Senior because, as she said, “All my friends and family came to dump water on me, but I'm most excited for the Senior Assassin.” Driscoll is described as hardworking with an uplifting spirit.
After high school, she planned to move to Montana full-time and attend SBS Beauty School in Missoula to specialize in hair. Her advice to underclassmen was, “Be friends with your teachers and always be kind to them; that will be very beneficial and time goes fast.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Eli Fortney
Eli Fortney is a funny, hardworking, and determined student. He has participated in soccer since freshman year, except for sophomore year while on exchange in Colombia. “Soccer has impacted me by helping me make new friends,” said Fortney. One of his accomplishments was winning the pumpkin carving contest with Max Spigel (12) in his junior year.
Fortney planned to attend college after high school. “I spend my time cutting hair, skiing, playing soccer, and skateboarding,” he said. His favorite senior event was Senior Sunrise: “It was because I got to see my friends after summer.” His advice to underclassmen was, “Stay focused on your schoolwork and treat others kindly.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Anja Lundgren
Anja Lundgren is a Running Start student who has actively participated in the Environmental Sustainability Group and the Technology Student Association (TSA). She also fundraised for her clubs and the soccer team. “These activities have motivated me to try new things and to stay committed even when something gets difficult. Sustainability has made me more interested in how I can make a difference, and TSA has shown me that I can succeed in things I may not have thought I would ever do or be interested in,” said Lundgren.
Her favorite senior event was Senior Sunrise: “I had fun and hung out with people from my grade and got to watch the beautiful sunrise.” Lundgren enjoys rock climbing, cooking, backpacking, and reading. She was proud of graduating with both her high school diploma and an associate degree, saying, “I know it is often looked down upon, but doing Running Start was the best decision I’ve ever made. It has allowed me to become a more independent and confident person.” After high school, she planned to pursue a four-year degree and eventually a master’s degree. Her advice to underclassmen was, “Don’t take things too seriously because you will forget everything.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Kai Krejci

Kai Krejci is a kind and joyful student who has been involved in band all four years, which has greatly influenced his high school experience. “Band helped me realize I want to go into music after high school,” said Krejci. One of his accomplishments was receiving the highest points in a music competition without going to state.
Krejci planned to attend a four-year college for music composition or education. Outside of school, he enjoyed skiing, mountain biking, and practicing his instruments. His favorite senior event was Soak a Senior: “It was memorable,” he said. His advice to underclassmen was, “Try and remember one useful piece of information from each class.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Michelle Perez
Michelle Perez is a fun, outgoing, and dedicated student at Cascade. She is part of the Kodiak Choral. “Although I’m not the best singer, it has shown me how to be comfortable with things I’m not usually comfortable with,” said Perez. During her sophomore year, she attended an academy that left her feeling proud and accomplished. “It was a humbling experience that I got myself through,” she said.
After graduation, Perez planned to join the military and work in search and rescue. She enjoys spending time with her family and eating pho. Her favorite senior event was Soak a Senior: “I got to do it with friends; it was also a great experience,” she said. Her advice was, “Stay true to yourself. Don't lose yourself trying to fit in. Be confident in yourself. And of course, be loyal.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Jouse Quintanilla

Jouse Quintanilla has been actively involved in football, wrestling, golf, and soccer since freshman year. “It has taught me to be responsible and to be ready for anything,” said Quintanilla. He has maintained strong academic performance, never failing a class at CHS.
After high school, he planned to attend college and earn a degree. “Outside of school I mainly work, but if I'm not, I'm hanging out with my friends,” he said. His favorite event was Soak a Senior: “It was a really successful fundraiser and a lot of seniors were part of it.” He looked forward to pumpkin carving during Flex. His advice to underclassmen was, “Start taking it seriously now as it will benefit you later on.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Edith Rivera
Edith Rivera is an understanding and caring student involved in M.E.Ch.A. and UNIDOS. These activities helped her connect with others and feel more involved at school. Her favorite event this year was Powderpuff because she supported her cousin and enjoyed being in the crowd. She looked forward to Senior Movie Night later in the year. Rivera enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, and baking.
After high school, she planned to attend Central University to become a preschool teacher. She explained, “I enjoy being around kids and supporting them the best I can.” Her advice to underclassmen was, “Turn in your work on time and study hard.”
Senior in the Spotlight: Ethan Vicente

Ethan Vicente has been involved in sports and speech and debate since freshman year. “High school really helped me try to figure out, through courses and relationships, what I want to be,” said Vicente. After graduation, he planned to study humanities and religion in college and hoped to travel, particularly to South Africa, to study political tensions.
Outside of school, Vicente spent time reading and writing. One of his favorite events was the pep competition between grades at the beginning of the school year. He looked forward to prom and graduation. His advice to underclassmen was, “Try and find as much enjoyment from school as you can, and prepare yourself for your future.”
