Whether it be leading the cheers at games, speaking at assemblies, or working diligently behind the scenes, senior Grace Redman is one of the most involved and outgoing people at Cascade. Described as dedicated, ambitious, and social by her teachers, Grace is a force in her community.
From the beginning, Grace has been in leadership roles in many aspects of the school. She has been in Interact club for all four years, holding the secretary position for the first two years followed by vice-president and currently holding the title of president. She has been an ASB officer for four years, student leader for Young Life club, and has volunteered at many different events. She was on the cheer squad for two years and has been a part of
drama.
“[I got involved because] I came into high school after being homeschooled for a year and felt really disconnected from people. I wanted to reconnect with people and try to make high school somewhat fun,” explains Redman.
Even while managing all of her involvement and extracurriculars, Grace is a very dedicated student. She has taken Honors English, two EWU English classes, EWU Leadership, EWU History, and will be taking EWU Psychology next semester.
“She took EWU U.S. History with me and 11th and 12th grade AVID. [Her strengths as a student are] she always asks questions, she is very committed to meeting deadlines, she asks for help constantly when she doesn’t understand, and she really cares about doing well as a student,” describes Ms. Renner-Singer, one of Redman’s teachers.
Grace has taken many interesting and challenging classes throughout high school, but the most helpful have been “personal finance and EWU leadership. Personal finance is just learning how I can be smart with my money and my future goals and plans. Leadership has helped me grow as a leader and I’ve used what I’ve learned from that class in the different areas where I have leadership roles. It has helped me learn more about myself,” states Redman.
One of Grace’s greatest passions is her involvement with her church, whether it be leading at youth group or Young Life, volunteering in the nursery on Sundays, or just being present and involved in her church community.
“I have known Grace for around three or four years. She is reliable and empathetic, and the empathetic part especially will help her with her future in ministry. She is always willing to try new things and looks out for her fellow students. She has grown more and more into the woman she wants to be, taking hold of what she wants out of life and working towards it,” describes Paige Derossett, the Youth Pastor at Grace’s church, the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene.
After high school Grace will attend Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, to study psychology and minor in business and Christian ministry. Cascade will be sad to see Grace go, but knows she is headed for great things.
