Lexi Smith-Bishop (12) is one of the most hardworking seniors at Cascade High School. She runs two clubs while also staying on top of her grades, working in construction, and creating a safe environment for students at CHS. Lexi is known for her outfits, pink hair, and confident personality. She is “very pink and outgoing and nice, kind to basically everyone,” said best friend, Azrael Simon (12).
Lexi is also very caring and able to connect with her fellow students. She has spent years building up her confidence and showing off her pride for herself and her school, including becoming a cheerleader during this year’s Grizzled Old Men. “My favorite memory of Lexi is when we were in shut down for Covid and Lexi was in my freshmen class that was entirely online and that class would stay after the Zoom session and play poker on Zoom because we were all just so socially starved and I thought it was pretty adorable,” said Ms. Rosenfield, Lexi’s Flex teacher. Lexi can converse with any student no matter who they are or what “clique” they may be a part of.
“Lexi being an executive member of the GSA has done an awesome job of getting it reestablished and making a safe place for marginalized students and I also think that she has done a good job of including people who might otherwise feel left out or a little bit unnoticed. So, her compassion has been a huge positive force in the school,” said GSA advisor, Ms. Rosenfield.
Lexi founded the CHS TeleNet Club and uses her skills from her work in construction to work with both students and community members to accomplish various projects. “For the Telenet Club, I do a lot. I go to meetings almost every week that are like three hours long. I direct community meetings. I go just around town. I install air nodes, which are like mini cell towers,” said Lexi. The Telenet Club was established by Lexi in 2023 and she has worked hard to bring more people and awareness to the club.
Lexi is known greatly for her work within the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) at Cascade. “For GSA, I get volunteers to come and talk to us about different things that can help the people in our school that are queer. I also take care of meetings, make sure that things are prepared for students when they arrive,” said Lexi. Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable while in school can go to Lexi because of her kindness and amazing listening skills. No matter the issue, Lexi is all ears and will help students with whatever they need.

Any student, in any grade, is able to look up to Lexi as a role model because of how thoughtful and ambitious she is. “I’ve worked hard to be a leader for other students,” said Lexi.
Lexi is an amazing student who is able to connect with any content she learns in the classroom. “Lexi is just a ball of love and positivity and compassion, but she also is a critical thinker and asks really good questions. She is a wonderful human being and a very hardworking student,” said Rosenfield.
In her spare time, Lexi likes to draw and play Dungeons and Dragons with her friends Charles Rich (12) and Azrael Simon. “Really just hanging out is one of the best things.Just hang out, play cards against humanity, do some cosplay, draw stuff, geeky stuff,” said Azrael Simon. Lexi used her art skills to create graphics for this year’s yearbook.
After graduating from high school, Lexi plans on attending her dream school, Washington State University. “I’m going to go to Washington State University and get, first my veterinary degree in medicine and then become a veterinarian,” said Lexi. She has many animals in her house and loves them all. This career choice is perfect for Lexi because of her love for all creatures.
