Senior Eric Rosario is a four-sport athlete, great student, and a loyal friend.
Eric has been playing basketball for all four years of high school. His coach Paul Fraker has enjoyed getting to interact with Eric both in the classroom and on the court. Fraker said, “Eric is an outstanding person. He has a great personality and he brightens my day every time I see him. I also admire his competitive spirit. I am so glad I was able to be his teacher and coach during the past 4 years.”
Eric is appreciated, not only be the coaching staff, but by his teammates as well. Senior Isai Claros, Eric’s teammate, says knowing Eric is great: “He's funny and fun to be around and although he may not say it, he is very hard working.”
Eric has also excelled as a football player: this past year he was the one of the team's captains. Dominic Coffin, the football coach, said, “Eric is one of the hardest working student-athletes I have been around. He was great at giving 100% effort at all times and in everything that he does. He will be a hard person to replace on the field and in the school as a whole.”
Eric is a star in the classroom as well. His favorite class is Avid. He explained that he loved Avid because, “I got to see my avid family and my avid mom, Mrs. Brixey.” Mrs. Brixey has clearly enjoyed being Eric's "avid mom". She said that, “Eric Rosario is special because of his smile. Eric knows how to look a person in the eye, smile, and hold that smile until the smile travels to his eyes. He knows how to softly hold the gaze of the person he is smiling at until they smile back. Of course, you’re probably asking why smiling is appropriate to call attention to when commenting on a student. Here is why Eric’s best characteristics: his smile creates connections, those connections support relationships, and Eric Rosario honors and rewards relationships as well as any student I have met.”
Not only is Eric appreciated by the teaching staff at CHS, he is loved by his classmates as well. Senior Emanuel Gil Garcia said, “Eric Rosario is like a brother to me, we have been really close friends since elementary days. But Eric Rosario is a really funny and talented guy, every time Eric and the rest of our group hang out he never fails to make us laugh. He is a very caring person, always there for me and our other friends. That's why he’s like a brother to me because I know he’ll always have my back. He’s very athletic which I am very proud of and I got nothing but love towards him and I appreciate everything he has done for me.”
Emanuel also stated that, “Eric Rosario has a very bright future ahead of him because he’s a very hard worker and knowing him is like having another brother, he really does make me and others laugh every time and a very nice and caring person.”
During Flex period and lunch, Eric spreads joy to everyone walking the halls of CHS when he and junior Leo Guerrero sing and play the guitar together in the hallways. English teacher Ms. Robison said, "I never had Eric in my class, but I truly enjoyed hearing his music in the halls. He would often play right outside of my classroom during Flex time and hearing him was like a little gift - not only for me, but for everyone at Cascade."
Next year Eric will be attending Eastern Washington. Even though he is moving on to other things, he is sure to be remembered fondly on the field, court, classrooms and hallways of Cascade. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
