Senior Gavin Dwyer is an essential member of the Cascade High School community. Teachers, classmates, and friends appreciate how he challenges himself and sets and achieves his goals. He is described as “having a great attitude and maintaining a very strong work ethic.” Gavin’s favorite hobbies are “a good long bike ride and a solid run.”

Gavin is known for challenging himself and going out of his comfort zone. He chose to take Drama class this year even though he hadn’t done it before. Mr. Allen, his Drama teacher remarked, “He discovered an appreciation for the class. This has opened his eyes to things he may not have appreciated before.” Gavin is often the first to volunteer for an exercise and his strengths are in not being afraid of putting himself out there. Mr. Allen said, “This often breaks the ice for the class, increasing everyone’s participation.”

Additionally, Gavin has also been a member of AVID for five years. He said, “AVID has showed me all of the many options for furthering my education.” He continued by saying, “My favorite part of AVID is the times we all took to get closer to each other.”

Besides AVID and Drama, Gavin is also extremely vigorous in his other classes. He said, “I worked really hard the first three years of high school to ensure that I had as many options as humanly possible, so to give myself a chance at going to college. I tried to get really good grades and lots of college credit at a fraction of the price.” Mrs. Brixey, his AVID teacher, explained, “Gavin is one of those people who hides in plain sight. He has taken tons of college level classes in the high school, 20 credits worth, and had the highest grade in UW Chemistry.”

Mr. Allen admires Gavin. He said, “As a student, Gavin has also shown a strong work ethic. He approaches every assignment with a great attitude. Gavin has taken the time to make a personal connection. He will frequently hang out in my room with fellow students and engage in great conversations.”

Mr. Fraker, his Weights and Conditioning teacher, added, “Gavin is a goal driven young man. He knows that he wants to go into the military as soon as he is able. He has changed his overall fitness to achieve that goal. He continues to work hard in Weights and Conditioning class each day.” Gavin said after high school he plans on, “Going to basic combat training for the U.S Army, and eventually I want to open a construction business.”

Gavin is an inspiring student at Cascade. He is loved by the Cascade community for having great determination and staying true to his aspirations. His goal to serve this country is one of the many admirable traits that Gavin possesses. What do you admire about Gavin?
