Student in the Spotlight: Kaley Oyos

Kaley Oyos is a junior at Cascade Highschool, an accomplished student and athlete, and a great friend to all. Although Kaley has been busy with school, work, and sports, she has stayed organized and determined throughout the year.

Kaley works at Cold Stone in downtown Leavenworth. One of her work mates, Vicky Fonesca, said, “Kaley is very trustworthy, hardworking, and always helpful. She is so funny, smart and confident and I love working with her.’’ She added that Kaley always makes others happy even when they are having a hard day. She covers for her coworkers when they need it and is always open to helping others. Through her job at Cold Stone, Kaley is sharing her upbeat personality with the Leavenworth community and numerous tourists as well.

During Kaley's free time, she enjoys hiking, drinking coffee with friends, and spending time with her family. She has also started a new habit of walking her dog, Tommy, every morning. One of Kaley's best friends, Faith Perez, said, “I am extremely lucky to have a friend like Kaley. She is determined, outgoing, kind, and always puts others first. She inspires me to work hard every day and to never give up.” Kaley is loved by many and is always open to making new friendships.

Besides work and spending time with family and friends, Kaley also loves to stay active and play sports. Kaley plays soccer and loves all her teammates and coaches. One of her teammates, Emma Warman, said, “Kaley is happy, cheerful, and hardworking. She is easy to get along with and is loved by all of her teammates and coaches.” Kaley has had an amazing time being part of the Cascade Highschool girls' soccer team and plans to continue to play through her last years of high school.

When asked about her future, Kaley stated, “I want to go the furthest in my education that I can, I would like to work in the pediatric medical field when I am older.’’ In addition, having a family is very important to Kaley and staying focused on her career is her number one goal. Kaley loves school and is always trying her best even when her workload is stressful. A class that inspires Kaley to peruse her goals for the future is Child Development. Child Deveolpment, taught by Mrs. Camp, is Kaley's favorite class. When asked to describe Kaley as a student, Mrs. Camp said, “She is persistent, patient, and kind. She is very accomplished and always try's her best. My favorite part about having Kaley in my class is watching her interact with the kids. They all love her so much.’’ Kaley's accomplishments and work ethic, combined with a clear plan for the future, make her a student that all Kodiaks can take inspiration from.

Someone who inspires Kaley is her dad: “My dad immigrated to the united states to make a better life for his family. He is very strong and has always inspires me to work hard and never give up even when things are hard. He has sacrificed a lot for my family, and I will always look up to him.’’ It is obvious that Kaley has amazing role models in her life and, just like her dad, will continue to work hard to reach any goal and overcome any challenges she has in her future.

Kaley is greatly loved at Cascade High School and will continue to be an amazing athlete, accomplished student, friend to all, and hard worker. Has Kaley inspired you? Want to spread some love to Kaley? Share a comment below.
