CHS senior Rory Swoboda is “the secret genius in every class she is in” and a significant part of the Cascade District. Rory has continuously shown leadership and guidance in every class and sports team she has been a part of in her high school career.
Rory is a “hard working, creative, and a super kind young woman,” stated art teacher Mrs. Dillon. She went on to say that “She brings her love of nature and culture into her artwork. This brings a rich, complex viewpoint to share with others. She is very kind to those around her and are endeared by many in the halls, classroom, and on the sports fields. Rory has a calm mannerism that is relaxing to be around (unless you are on the soccer field with her, then watch out!). Rory is an exceptional person you would want to have with you in any circumstance.”
Not only does Rory do an exceptional job in the arts, she is also a phenomenal student in the math, English, and science realms. Science teacher Mrs. Ravits has had Rory in her class for a while now, and when asked about her former student, she said, “Rory is absolutely wonderful – she is funny, smart, mischievous, and kind. She is an engaged student, friend and peer and an overall positive role model for all!” Rory has continuously put her all in academics throughout the years. English teacher Mrs. Brixey said, “Rory is the secret genius in every class she is in. Quietly listening to discussions, reading and processing everything, she will swoop in – if you give her the chance – with brave and insightful analysis that leaves a group with deeper thoughts than they began with. Her writing has been some of my favorite over the years, and I will miss her perspective on life. The world doesn’t have enough Rorys.”
When asked about what she likes to do when not in school, Rory said she likes “skiing, biking, hiking, eating, sleeping (even though I can do that in school) and hanging out with my pals.” One of Rory’s good friends, Bijou Zehm, said, “Rory is an amazing friend, who never fails to bring laughter and a sense of adventure wherever she goes.” When not skiing, biking, hiking, eating, sleeping, or hanging out with friends, Rory is captain of the CHS girls' soccer team. She has continuously shown leadership in that role which has resulted in many team successes. Her coach, Javier Reyna, said, “Rory was one of my captains and one of the hardest workers on the field. She was a role model on and off the field. I am excited to see what the future brings to her. I am extremely grateful to have been able to coach her for the last two years.” The Cascade girls’ soccer team will greatly miss Rory.
Rory is such an important person in the community. Since freshman year, she has put it all on the field and within her academics. After she graduates, she plans to go to Montana State University in Bozeman. What are some of your favorite memories with Rory?
